Kitten Naming Contest!
We have some new arrivals that need names… and we want you to help! Two of the six kittens are very special as they are blind and will need extra medical attention. So we are trying to raise money for this in a fun way! It’s $5 per entry for a chance to name a kitten – unlimited entries. Each entry will be assigned a number for a random drawing. So that we don’t have duplicate names in our rescue, we have picked a theme and a selection of names. Since the kittens are either black or black and white tuxies, the theme is Old Hollywood Stars from the black and white films. We will choose the winners by having all entries in a spread sheet. If you enter 5 times you get 5 lines in the list. Then using Random.org we choose numbers and match with the names on the list. The first winner gets to choose a kitten and the name. The second winner chooses a kitten and a name and so on. Entries will be accepted this week and end on Sunday, November 12, 2017.
The first four kittens were rescued with their feral mom on Oct 12th 2017. They were about 1 month old which puts them born during Hurricane Irma. MommaCat didn’t like being confined so she was spayed and released through TNR. She has food and shelter and now can be happy with no more kittens!
During the past three weeks her kittens have gone from feisty, hissy, spitty furballs to lovable little purr babies! They are growing like crazy now that they are safe inside with proper food.
Then, this past week two blind kittens were found. They are about 6 weeks old and were found just in time before predators found them. Efforts are being made to catch their mom but she’s a crafty girl and has been very hard to catch. One kitten has already come around and loves attention and purrs when held and his brother is a bit shyer but is trusting more every day.
So we have six kittens that can all play together and need names! Will you help us?
Both blind boys were born with Microphthalmia, a genetic condition that prevents the eyes from developing properly. They will have to have eye surgery when they are neutered. But since they were born this way they don’t know any different. They are happy, love to play and get around really well. As far as they know all cats are like them!
So there’s the babies! Thank you!
